Western Day activities and printables for children.
On this day children and staff can wear jeans, hats, boots, neckerchiefs, etc. NO GUNS! Play some favorite children's country western music.
Room Decoration: Wilderness Motif--leaves, branches; pinecones, stuffed animals (bears, skunks, raccoons, etc...)
Make
Students color and carefully cut out the design. The teacher uses a stapler and sentence strip to create a hat.
Make
Make a stick horse (hobby horse) then have races. Use broom sticks, dowels, or wrapping paper cardboard tubes.
Makke an inexpensive DIY stick horse using oven mitts. No Sew.
Snacks
Children can eat on aluminum pie plates.
Trail Mix: Some possible ingredients: goldfish crackers, cheerios, raisins, dried fruit, miniature pretzels, coconut, granola, and dried cranberries.
Children decorate their "saddle bags" (brown lunch bags). Then have the children go to the table to pick and choose what they would like to put into their trail mix. Could eat the snack on the floor or outside around a fake campfire.
Beans and Franks (Beanie Weenies)
2-3 Cans Baked Beans
Sliced hot dogs (half circles)
Put baked beasn in a pan. Add sliced hot dogs pieces. Heat, stir, and serve.
Teepee Cones
Make a teepee snack using Sugar cones, Chocolate icing, Coconut (dyed green), Pretzel sticks, and Gel icing.
